Investing in the Next Generation: CDSP Scholarship Program 2025

On November 13, 2025, INDECOS held a heart-warming and impactful event at the Co-operative Conference Hall in Uyanwatta, Matara, to celebrate the Child Development Scholarship Program (CDSP).

With the generous support of Helping Hands Sweden, we were able to provide essential school materials and financial support to students from underprivileged backgrounds, reaffirming our commitment to the belief that every child deserves a chance to excel.

A Celebration of Culture and Ambition

The afternoon was more than just a distribution of materials; it was a vibrant celebration of community and talent. The event featured:

  • Traditional Observances: The program began with the lighting of the oil lamp and religious observances.
  • Cultural Excellence: Guests were treated to a beautiful Puja Dance and a special performance by the students of the Aprekka Zone.
  • Student Voices: In a powerful display of growth, scholarship recipients delivered moving speeches in English, sharing their aspirations and gratitude.

Distinguished Support

We were honored to welcome several distinguished guests who provided words of wisdom to our students:

  • Mr. Chandana Thilakarathna (District Secretary, Matara) served as our Chief Guest.
  • Mr. Susantha Aththanayake (Divisional Secretary, Matara) joined us to show government support for our initiatives.
  • International Perspectives: Representatives Mr. Andreas and Mr. Franz shared inspirational insights, connecting our local efforts to a global spirit of giving.

Realizing Our Objectives

The 2025 CDSP program was designed to do more than provide physical goods. Our Director, Mr. Conrad Ranawake, emphasized that the core mission is to:

  1. Provide Material Support: Equipping students with the tools they need for the school year.
  2. Encourage Academic Commitment: Motivating children to stay in school and pursue higher education.
  3. Strengthen Community Bonds: Bringing together parents, government officials, and international partners to support local families.

Impact and Outcomes

The program concluded with the distribution of school material packs to a highly engaged group of beneficiaries. The immediate impact was visible in the increased confidence of the students and the relief and motivation expressed by their parents and guardians.
